Kayla Boyer, MOTR/L
Kayla received her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science degree from the University of Mississippi in 2010. She then went on to further her education and received her Masters of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2015. Kayla joined the Beyond Therapy group in June 2015 and feels blessed every day to work within the wonderful population of pediatrics. She has always had a huge heart for children and feels that each child is unique in their own special way. Kayla strives to help all of her patients achieve their goals, no matter what obstacles may stand in the way. She is a longtime supporter and volunteer for St. Jude Children’s research Hospital, as well as a member of the Mississippi Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Currently, Kayla resides with her husband Hunter, new baby and their two dogs in Gluckstdat, MS.
Christy Brooks, MOTR/L
Christy graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center with her Masters of Occupational Therapy degree in May 2010. Following graduation, she began working with children of all ages to meet their full potential. Through family-centered, compassionate care, she believes all children can thrive. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending Broadmoor Baptist Church and reading. She resides in Madison, MS with her husband and son.
Mary Campbell, MS CCC- SLP
Mary attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe for her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She recently moved to Mississippi from Little Rock, AR and has over 6 years of experience with school age children and early intervention. Mary joined the Beyond team in July of 2017 and currently lives in the Madison area with her husband and son.
Rachel Dear, PT
Rachel has been with Beyond Therapy since 2017 with a long history serving patients in inpatient rehab, school system and outpatient. She loves working with a variety of children ranging in ages and also works in our adult clinics. She established our IRON KIDS fitness program and is excited to use her skills to educate families with children that need to improve their overall strength, fitness and flexibility. She is trained in a variety of techniques for physical therapy but recently received her certification in Pilates. She lives in Jackson with her husband and children. She is extremely involved in the catholic community and attends St. Richard’s Catholic Church.
Lydia Dotson, M.S CCC-SLP
Lydia has been with Beyond Therapy since 2015. She has a heart for early intervention and school age children needing language services. She was previously with Mississippi’s Early Intervention Program and loved the progress you see with this age group. Lydia is a graduate of JSU in Communication Disorders. She has almost 5 years experiences in pediatric only setting. She currently lives in Clinton with her husband and daughter.
Meg Edwards, OTR/L
Meg joined the Beyond Therapy team in 2013. Meg has vast training in early intervention, sensory processing disorder, autism and specializes in treatment ages 0-3. She also has extensive education in feeding disorders and serves on the feeding team. Meg assists with our early intervention comprehensive teams and enjoys studying new ways of engaging her clients through use of evidence based practice. Currently Meg resides in Jackson, MS with her four children.
Bethany Gough, CCC-SLP
Bethany joined the Beyond Therapy Team in 2012. Bethany received her B.S. in Communication Disorders from Mississippi University for Women and her Masters in Communication Disorders from Jackson State University. During her clinical rotations, Bethany gained experience in the pediatric population where she learned how rewarding helping this population can be. Bethany has experience treating the following areas: articulation disorders, phonological processing, language disorders, auditory processing, and feeding/swallowing disorders. She is a member of the Mississippi Speech Language Hearing Association as well as the American Speech Language Hearing Association. Bethany has specialized in Vital Stimulation, Interactive Metronome and Talk Tools. Bethany assists in Beyond Therapy’s outreach program by serving at many schools, clinics and facilities. Bethany enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She and her husband reside in Madison, MS with their two children.
Leah Graham, MOTR/L
Leah joined the Beyond Therapy team in 2018 after graduating from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Health-Related Professions with a Masters of Occupational Therapy degree in May 2018. Leah previously attended Jones County Junior College where she received an Associates of Art degree in 2011. Then Leah went on to receive a Bachelors of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Kinesiology, Psychology, and Spanish as well as a minor in International Studies from Mississippi State University in 2014. Leah has always wanted to work with children especially those with physical, cognitive, and/or emotional deficits. Leah strives to help every child she works with to reach their highest potential in order to lead a happier, fulfilling, and more independent life despite their disability. Leah is a member of the Mississippi Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Leah grew up in the small town of Quitman, Mississippi where she met her now husband, Andrew. Leah lives in Jackson with her husband and their two dogs, Reesie and Jack.
Caroline King Hayes, M.S, CCC- SLP
Caroline received her graduate degree in 2016 at Jackson State University in Communication Disorders. She worked previously with the early intervention program First Steps following graduation. She joined Beyond Therapy in October 2016 to further advance her skills. She enjoys children with a variety of communication needs especially children with autism at New Summit and the Autism Academy. She also enjoys seeing children with English as their second language. She is proficient in Spanish when used during early language development. Caroline lives in Jackson, MS with her husband.
Taylor Hilbun, MS CCC-SLP
Taylor graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in before receiving her Master of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from Jackson State University. She is a member of The American Speech, Language and Hearing Association. She has experience working with pediatric populations in an Outpatient Hospital with a variety of diagnoses and communication disorders. Since earning her Master’s in 2017, Taylor has become certified in Vital Stim, FEES, and Beckman Oral Motor Intervention. She wants to continue to learn how to implement the best evidence based practice with each child she treats. Taylor loves using a play based approach. No matter the diagnosis it is through “play” she hopes to help each child reach higher levels of function.
Ashton Hotard, MS CCC-SLP
Ashton has been with Beyond Therapy since 2017. She is coming with several years’ experience in pediatrics in a hospital setting. She currently is serving our children with speech, language and hearing deficits at Magnolia Speech School. She received her graduate degree in communication disorder from The University of Southern Alabama. She is has experience with children with traumatic brain injury, stuttering, language disorders, and she is vital stim certified. She is a member of both the Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi Speech and Language Association, International Dyslexia Association, and American Speech and Hearing Association. Ashton lives in Vicksburg with her daughter and husband. She enjoys traveling and reading.
Presley Johnson M.S., CCC- SLP
Presley received her undergraduate degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2012. She earned her Masters of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from Jackson State University in 2015. Presley joined Beyond Therapy in June 2015. While at Southern Miss, Presley volunteered at the Children’s Center for Communication and Development, during which she gained experience with the pediatric population and grew to love working with children.Presley has training with speech generated devices, Talk Tools, articulation disorders and children with Autism. She is a member of the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association. Presley resides in Florence, MS with her husband and new baby.
Sarah Johnson, MOTR/L
Sarah joined Beyond Therapy in 2016. She has over 10 year experience in occupational therapy focusing on hands, upper extremity strengthening, ADLs and functional therapeutic procedures. She enjoys seeing children reach their full potential despite their limitation and diagnosis. She has extensive experience with persons with strokes and traumatic brain injuries. She lives in Brandon, MS with her 2 daughters.
Rebecca Josey, DPT
Rebecca graduated from Mississippi State University in 2013 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology and a concentration in Clinical Exercise Physiology. She then attended UMMC, where she received a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in May 2016. Being originally from Jackson, she feels a strong desire to serve the people of her home town. She joined the team of therapists at Beyond Therapy as of June 2016 and is thankful to have the opportunity to work with children in the Jackson area to achieve their goals for physical function and quality of life. She is a member of the Mississippi Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as her church family at Grace Community Church. She currently resides in Jackson, MS.
Massey Mitchell, MOTR/L
Massey attended Mississippi State University 2009-2013. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Clinical Exercise Physiology. She also attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she received her Masters of Occupational Therapy degree in August 2017. Having grown up in the Jackson metro area, Massey feels extremely thankful to be back to serve those in and around her hometown. Her heart for kids is what led her to pursue a career where she could have a lasting impact on their lives. Massey will be serving Drayer Physical Therapy Institute by providing OT services at New Summit School and The Spectrum Academy, as well as at Beyond Therapy outpatient clinic in Ridgeland, Ms. She enjoys the opportunity of working with children of various ages and disabilities, and strives to help them achieve their goals no matter the struggle they may face. She believes that a child’s environment, whether that be school or home, can promote developmental skills and loves working in both of these settings. Massey lives in Flowood with her husband, Ross, and enjoys attending Mississippi State sporting events, decorating, and spoiling their dog.
Melissa Newman, OTR/L
Melissa Newman has been with Beyond Therapy since 2017. She is serving our children in occupational therapy at Magnolia Speech School and our outpatient clinic. She has over 15 years’ experience in occupational therapy. She has been with Rankin County Schools for 17 years as the Director of Occupational Therapy. Melissa loves working with children with a range of diagnosis and ages. She specializes in fine motor coordination, improving activities of daily living and handwriting skills. Melissa designed and implemented assessment procedures and determined appropriate instruments for students in need of occupational therapy screening, evaluation, and direct or consult therapy. She has also provided resources to instructional staff and facilitated appropriate referrals to district special education assessment team when needed. Melissa is a supervisor for occupational therapy students. Melissa enjoys being at home in Brandon with her husband and two children.
Kristen Owens, MOTR/L
Kristen graduated from UMC with her Master’s in Occupational Therapy in May 2009. She has practiced in the areas of NICU, child and adult Acute Care as well as Follow-Up Developmental Clinic. Kristen joined Beyond Therapy in February 2010 and brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to our group. She especially enjoys working with neonates, infants and toddlers to bring about the best outcomes for children regardless of their challenges. She enjoys working with the families to promote their child’s development skills and assisting families in overcoming difficulties they often face. Kristen recently underwent training for Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) at UAB and looks forward to assisting with the CIMT clinic at Beyond Therapy. Kristen and her husband reside in Jackson, MS with their daughter and son. She and her husband are actively involved with the youth ministry at Redeemer Church.
Jessica Malone Rhaly, DPT
Jessica graduated from University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS in 2005 with her bachelor’s degree in Biology and went on to get her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. She is originally from Carrollton in North Mississippi; however, after graduation in 2009 she moved to Brandon, MS. She has always loved to be around kids which drove her to search for a career in helping children with special needs. Jessica truly feels at the end of the day that the best reward for her is helping children live more functional and fulfilling lives. One of her main goals here at Beyond Therapy is to teach children about physical fitness and educate parents on how to promote healthy lifestyles at home.
Hillary Ross, MS CCC-SLP
Hillary attended the University of Mississippi for her undergraduate degree. She received her Master’s degree from the University of Mississippi in Speech Language Pathology from 2014-2016. Hillary joined the Beyond team in June 2017 after completing a fellowship term in Memphis, TN. Hillary has experience with pediatrics and enjoys working with children with a variety of communication disorders. She currently lives in Jackson, MS with her husband.
Susannah Silvia, MCD, CCC-SLP
Susannah came to Beyond Therapy in 2005 after moving from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Susannah received her BA in communication disorders from Louisiana State University in 2003 and her Master’s in Communication Disorders from LSU Health Science Center in 2005. Susannah has over 10 years of pediatric experience in a variety of communication disorders. Susannah uses varied visual and tactile cues such as sign language, PROMPT therapy, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) to make learning speech and language easier. Susannah is also trained in Talk Tools, Kaufman Speech Praxis System, and SOS feeding approach and has implemented techniques for treating children with sensory-motor feeding and articulation disorders. She serves on our feeding team and comprehensive developmental team. In addition to her passion for treating patients with feeding and speech disorders, Susannah also teaches two graduate level courses: Early Intervention and Special Topics at Jackson State University. Susannah has 3 children with her husband Josh and they reside in Madison, MS.
Kenley Smith, MOTR/L
Kenley graduated from Mississippi State in 2009 with her Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology. She attended Occupational Therapy school at UMMC and graduated in 2012. She has experience in various pediatric areas of practice, including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, outpatient services, early intervention and school settings. These practice areas have offered opportunities for Kenley to work with children with various challenges, including feeding difficulties, neurological deficits, sensory deficits, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and other various diagnoses. Kenley enjoys working with children and adolescents of all ages; she aspires to help each child and family achieve the highest level of independence and success as possible, regardless of their challenges. She enjoys learning about various topics regarding therapy research in order to provide the best care possible. Kenley is certified in Interactive Metronome and also conducts intensive constraint-induced therapy services for children with various neurological conditions that limit the use of one upper extremity. Kenley lives in Brandon with her husband, Tyler, and her twin girls.
Laura Stewart, MOTR/L
Laura joined Beyond Therapy after returning to school as a COTA. She worked in the Performance Rehab adult clinics previously. Laura has extensive knowledge in fine motor coordination, handwriting, sensory processing and behavior disorders. She enjoys seeing children of all ages with experience with school age and adolescents. Laura enjoys traveling and reading. She lives in Jackson, MS with her husband and son.
Beth Vanderloo M.S., CCC-SLP
Beth received her undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Delta State University in 1989. She earned her Masters of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Mississippi in 1993. Beth has extensive pediatric experience in the evaluation and treatment of speech, language and swallowing disorders. Currently, Beth is working towards certification inTalkTools-Oral Placement Therapy. Beth is a member of The Mississippi Speech and Hearing Association and The American Speech and Hearing Association. Beth serves on the Board of Directors of Central MS Down Syndrome Society. Beth is the mother of 3 beautiful young children.
